Finished the quilt for my DH Grandmother

So my Husbands Grandmother lives in Florida and my Father-in-law takes a drive down every year around her birthday and stays for a few weeks. Well she will be 91 this year and I thought...what could I make for her for her birthday...why not a quilt! She is so sweet, ever time she called my Mother-in-law she always ask how I am doing. The handful of times I spent time with her, when she could still travel, we just clicked. She so reminded me of my own grandmother. Little Italian grandma...not even 5 feet tall. Oh man she makes the best lasagna! So I went through all the patterns I have on my computer and came up with one to make for her. It's called Scruffly Quilt by Rachel Griffith from Moda Back Shop. Let me know what you think?

This is all of the "Scrap Bags" I got off of eBay. I took them out of the bag and rolled them and made my own labels for them so I know what line of Moda fabric they were from.

This is Bed and Breakfast Collection from Connecting Threads Web site.

I know I didn't post about this before but I was in the hospital for over a week. I am having complications from my 1st back surgery. Well anyway, my DH brought my laptop so I had something to do. After browsing other blogs and playing some games I ended up on eBay...big mistake and some other websites I bought off of!!! It started out with just a few things and by the end of my hospital stay...well to say the least the hubby was not to happy but he understood...gosh I love him. So here are some things I got! It was like xmas when I got home from the hospital! I am still waiting for more packages to come so I will post pics when I get them!!!

So I am now a quilter!!! I never did any kind of sewing before (except in school) so I went to my library and got some books on quilting. Hi everyone...It's been so long since I have posted on my blog! Well alot has happend since I was last on. I have 2 major back surgeries and I am still recovering from the last one. 4 1/2 hours on the table and 1 week in the hospital and 4 screws in my back...But on a good note, I started quilting and OMG I am in love!!! I had to find somehting I could do that wasn't so hard on my back and my darling husband bought me a sewing machine so I thought well what the heck, I had him go to the library and get some books on quilting and off I went! I have made a throw, a queen size quilt for my bed and I just finished a twin size for my son. I love it!!! I will post pictures soon!!!

Today is the first day...

Well today I stopped smoking! I went and bought the patch...had my last smoke and slapped that patch on my arm! I don't know why but just in the past few weeks, I just don't want to smoke anymore. I have wanted to so many times before but only went a day or so and broke down. This time...I WILL QUITE! I put away all the ashtrays, lighters, and cleaned my house. I want to be healthy for my kids and live long enough to see my grandkids!! I don't want to smell like a cig any more. I don't want to be attached always making sure I have my smokes with me. I thought about it and I have been smoking for 25 years! I know this will be the hardest thing to get through and I am scared. I am worried that I won't be able to do it. It's been sooo long that I don't remember how it was to NOT smoke. For all of you reading this, I would love some support. Well it's been 1 day down and the rest of my long life to go!

My DD is 20...will be 21 in July and she is moving into her own place!!! I am sooo excited for her but sad at the same time. I want to hold onto her for ever! But I am so very proud of her! She has been working really hard for this and I think she is ready! We go and sign the lease tomorrow! So tonight we are SHOPPING!!! Ikea will be our first stop! You all know I will be taking a TON of pictures so I will update tomorrow sometime on her new stuff!

My Valentine Cards

This is my first attempt at making a "Waterfall" card. Each heart has a word on it...it reads:

1st heart Will

2nd heart You

3rd heart Be

4th heart My

Then you pull the tab on the bottom in it reads: Valentine

I used the sewing maching on this one...I am always afraid that I am going to break the needle...LOL

This card was so much fun to make!!

This was another fun card to make. I cut the flowers out with my Cricut and then used my fingernails to curl the edges.

I made the background paper myself. I used a big background stamp and heat empossed it. I also used a embossing marker for the inside of the flowers.

This card was a challenge from another website I am on and decided to make it into a valentines cards!
